VCU Black History Month Event - The “Angry Black Woman” (Misperceptions of Black Women Lunch and Learn Series)
12 p.m. - 1 p.m. Feb. 09, 2021
Black History Month presents "Misperceptions of Black Women." This weekly lunch and learn series invites a range of guest hosts with expertise and lived experience to share the origins of these misperceptions and explore the complex realities behind them. Each week we’ll work together to dismantle these myths, and build the common cultural knowledge that Black women are more than enough.
Please join us for the Feb. 9 lunch and learn: The “Angry Black Woman.” In this week’s lunch and learn, we seek to understand the history, myths and consequences of being the “Angry Black Woman.” We will explore the history of this myth, as well as the lived experiences of those impacted by the “Angry Black Woman” misperception. Through discussion and reflection on these narratives and histories, we will debunk the culturally pervasive myth of the “Angry Black Woman.”
