MCV Campus 2018 alumni awards

Each year, the schools of Dentistry and Nursing honor distinguished alumni at the MCV Campus Reunion Weekend. The following alumni were honored at the 2018 Reunion for their outstanding contributions to their profession and/or community.

School of Dentistry

Dr. Harry Lyons Outstanding Dental Alumnus Award
Jerry L. Jenkins, D.D.S. (D.D.S.'68/D)

Presented to a School of Dentistry graduate in recognition of his or her outstanding loyalty and dedicated service to the school, its alumni and students and to the dental profession.

Dr. James H. Revere, Jr. Outstanding Alumnus Service Award
Thomas C. Waldrop, D.D.S. (D.D.S.'73/D)

The Dr. James H. Revere, Jr. Outstanding Alumnus Service Award is presented annually to either an alumnus of the School of Dentistry or to an honorary alumnus who has shown outstanding leadership, loyalty and service to the community or to the school, the university or to professional or community organizations. This award bears the name of former MCV Alumni Association President James H. Revere Jr., D.D.S. (D.D.S.'65/D), whose immeasurable contributions, leadership, loyalty and service to the community, the school, the university and to professional organizations idealizes the principles of this award.   

Outstanding D.D.S. Graduate of the Last Decade Award
Jasmine R. Elmore, D.D.S. (D.D.S.’13/D)

For outstanding and dedicated service to the School of Dentistry, its alumni and students and to the dental profession.

Dr. Franci Stavropoulos Outstanding Dental Hygiene Alumnus Award
Susan L. Reid (B.S.'83/D)
Tammy Ridout (B.S.'83/D)

Named in honor of Franci Stavropoulos, D.D.S. (B.S.'73/D), this award is presented to a dental hygiene graduate in recognition of his or her outstanding loyalty and dedicated service to the school, its alumni and students, and to the dental hygiene profession.

VCU Dental Hygiene Program Outstanding Young Alumnus Award
Lauren G. Anger (B.S.’08/D)

Presented annually to a dental hygiene graduate of the last decade for outstanding leadership, loyalty and service to the community to the school or university or to professional or community organizations.

School of Nursing

Outstanding Nurse Alumnus Award
Margaret Ann Connors (B.S.'78/N)

This award was initiated in 1970 to honor outstanding contributions of graduates of the School of Nursing. This award is presented in recognition of a successful nursing career. The recipient is recognized as a leader and expert who has contributed to health-related and other groups and has impacted the nursing profession with creativity. 

Outstanding Nurse Service Award
Bonnie Price (B.S.'97/N)

Presented for the first time in 1989, this award honors School of Nursing alumni who have shown outstanding leadership and service to the community, the school, the university or professional or community organizations.

Outstanding Nurse Practice Award
Sharon McCoy (B.S.'88/N; M.S.'91/N)

Added in 1992, the award for outstanding practice honors a School of Nursing graduate who exemplifies an innovative, professional and scholarly approach to his or her practice and contributes to the development of others.  

Outstanding Young Alumnus Award
Lathika Mohanraj (B.S.'14/N)

Added in 2017, this award recognizes recent alumni for their outstanding and dedicated service to the School of Nursing, its alumni and students and to the nursing profession.
